What is 1st combat communications squadron?

The 1st Combat Communications Squadron is a unit of the United States Air Force, based at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. It provides essential communication support to American, NATO, and allied forces during military operations worldwide. The squadron's mission is to establish, operate, and maintain communications and computer systems that enable command and control of military forces. It conducts planning, installation, maintenance, and upgrades of communication and information technology systems, including satellite and radio communications, fiber optic cable networks, and computer systems. In addition, the 1st Combat Communications Squadron provides emergency communications capability in the event of natural disasters or other emergencies both in Germany and around the world. The unit was first activated in 1940 and has since served in numerous conflicts including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
